Solaris is a thought provoking science fiction thriller from the camp of Steven Soderbergh and James Camaron (a Hollywood version) which follows the original and incredible film by Andrey Tarkosvsky’s (1972) which was hailed as Russia’s 2001: The story having been originally written by Stanslaw Lem.
The film is largely set on a lonely space station orbiting a magical planet which causes strange resurrections from the crews memories. Cosmonaut psycologist Chris Kelvin (Played by George Clooney) sets off from earth to investigate after the crew call for help.
Philosophically the film is a gripping visualisation of a paradigm in which mankind’s thoughts, deeds, memories and hopes and fears are creative sources of energy that create manifesting realities in which humans can find themselves either trapped or freed within.
