If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV)

Revivals start with revelation, deep repentance and true worship!

What is the shape of Christian revival? A revival is a specific event or period of increased spiritual wanting and renewal in the life of individuals, a church congregation or many churches, either regionally or globally. Revivals restore lives from decline or stagnation: families and churches are transformed into a vital and fervent relationship with God after a period of decline. The symptoms of revival are mass conversions of non-believers, healing and miracles and moral transformations especially among young people.

Typically revivals come when people get serious with God, when they realise that they are not in the best spiritual place they can be, and want to change their lives so that they can be more of what God designed them to be.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a fundamental topic regarding revival because it stems from a realisation that we are not up-to God’s standards. The precursor of God’s 'revival' outpouring thorough the scriptures is like this:

Invariably we hit crisis of some sort

We are reminded of the love of Father

We recognise our shortfall

We call out to him

We repent

Like a loving father he runs to us and showers us with his spiritual gifts
