There are two wife metaphors in the Bible:
1) Israel: Israel is related to God the Father
2) The Church: Church is related to Christ the face of the Father
This has nothing to do with a bigamist notion. There are three expressions of what is called the economy of God in theology: Western people understand this as ‘trinity’ and the three persons in the Godhead: Israel, is the wife of Jehovah, is related to the Father, the Church (bride) is related to Christ. We must always remember that God is one, we are his people and he is our Father, analogues pertaining to bride and wife are to illustrate love and tenderness between God and His people.
As an aside, God pictured Himself related to two wives at the same time. This philosophical multiple-wife is found in Ezekiel 23.
